On the black water of U Minh Thuong
Previously, the road was still dirt and difficult, referring to U Minh Thuong, people feel remote and sad. But now, no longer have to take a ferry, not across the river through the dunes anymore, Tac Cau bridge connecting the U Minh Thuong with visitors in a quite easy and convenient journey was born.
From junction Rach Gia bypass Tac Cau, going about 20km, you will come to the buffer zone of U Minh Thuong. The whole area of the forest has been awarded the ASEAN Heritage Park (on August 12th, 2013) with an area of 21,000 ha and wide entrance of 8,000 ha in core area.
Peaceful place with bird
Visitors to U Minh Thuong National Park is now mostly foreign tourists and residents of neighboring provinces of Kien Giang and scientists comin to study the rare flora and fauna in the forest.
It is estimated that there are more than 200 species of birds, 32 species of mammals belonging to 7 families; 7 species of bats, 5 of which are in the Vietnam Red Book such as hairy-nosed otters, fishing cats, mongoose large mottled salamander, squirrel …
Mr Le Hoang Huong director of U Minh Thuong National Park, said the most attractive landscapes , attracting most tourist in the garden is the vast bird sanctuary located in the northwest of the core area which is considered the largest museum of birds in the Mekong river delta.
